Just a few moments ago

Just a few moments ago Jacob the 2.5 year old was playing with Buzz Lightyear and flying him around. He ran off down the hallway and I heard the toilet lid slam shut. I thought "Hmm? What am I going to find in the toilet?" So I head down the hallway and meet Jacob in the hallway with Buzz still in hand. I said "Get out of the bathroom. We don't play in the bathroom!" (Said with sweet tone and lots of smiles.) Jacob responds "I had to get Buzz's poopies out." while pointing to Buzz's back side. LOLOLOLOLOLOLOL Buzz had gone poopie in the potty. Now if I could just get Jacob to go poopie in the potty I'd be one happy Mama LOL.

Savior of the World is Born Today

Jesus' Birth in Bethlehem

1 Now in those days a decree went out from Caesar Augustus, that a census be taken of all the inhabited earth.

2 This was the first census taken while Quirinius was governor of Syria.

3 And everyone was on his way to register for the census, each to his own city.

4Joseph also went up from Galilee, from the city of Nazareth, to Judea, to the city of David which is called Bethlehem, because he was of the house and family of David,

5 in order to register along with Mary, who was engaged to him, and was with child.

6 While they were there, the days were completed for her to give birth.

7 And she gave birth to her firstborn son; and she wrapped Him in cloths, and laid Him in a manger, because there was no room for them in the inn.

8 In the same region there were some shepherds staying out in the fields and keeping watch over their flock by night.

9 And an angel of the Lord suddenly stood before them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them; and they were terribly frightened.

10 But the angel said to them, "Do not be afraid; for behold, I bring you good news of great joy which will be for all the people;

11 for today in the city of David there has been born for you a Savior, who is Christ the Lord.

12 "This will be a sign for you: you will find a baby wrapped in cloths and lying in a manger."

13 And suddenly there appeared with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God and saying,

14 "Glory to God in the highest, And on earth peace among men with whom He
is pleased."

15 When the angels had gone away from them into heaven, the shepherds began saying to one another, "Let us go straight to Bethlehem then, and see this thing that has happened which the Lord has made known to us."

16 So they came in a hurry and found their way to Mary and Joseph, and the baby as He lay in the manger.

17 When they had seen this, they made known the statement which had been told them about this Child.

18 And all who heard it wondered at the things which were told them by the shepherds.

19 But Mary treasured all these things, pondering them in her heart.

20 The shepherds went back, glorifying and praising God for all that they had heard and seen, just as had been told them.

I'll be making this to surprise the boys tomorrow

School Week in Review

In school this week we learned about Columbus' trip to the West Indies and how hard it was. We are reading Pedro's Journal (Apple Paperbacks) as an extra read aloud for History and Joshua is enjoying it very much. He asks every day if we are going to read it. On day 3 of the unit I read aloud the history readings and Joshua built Columbus' ship and an Indian out of Lego's. Here's a picture of his creations.

One of the history activities was to take a balloon and label index cards with the continents and then place them on the balloon in the proper place.

He also made a map of Columbus' route from Spain to the West Indies.

We also set up our timeline from Drawing From The Past. I want their timeline figures too but can't afford them right now. For now we are using some other figures that I had. We put Creation on our timeline at the beginning (top left) and then put Columbus on at 1492.

We had a great week and we will be doing school next week too. We will take the week of Christmas off but then we will start right back the next week because we are so behind in school.

Merry Christmas!

It Snowed!!

Well last night it snowed about an inch. The boys loved playing in it last night. Most of the accumulation was after dark. They made a snowman and had snowball fights with Dad. It's already melted today though so I am glad we let them play in it last night. Here a few pictures of the snow.

2 Field Trips in 2 Days: ICE and Adventure Science Center

We have had 2 field trips in the last 2 days. Today we went to the Adventure Science Center. I forgot my camera so there aren't any pictures of today but since there are several from the ICE show I'm sure that will be ok with you LOL. Yesterday we went to the ICE show at Opryland. We went last year too but I didn't have my digital camera last year but this year I did. It's so much fun but very very cold. This was the last year for the Grinch so I'm glad I was able to get so many good pictures and videos. It's ALL ice. Everything you see in the pictures (except the kids LOL) is made of ice. My favorite part of the ICE show is at the very end. It's an ice nativity scene complete with shepherd's and their flock, wise men, and a towering angel looking over baby Jesus. Be sure to check out the picture at the end of this post for THE REASON FOR SEASON. Enjoy!

Pardon the construction

I am working on my blog and learning how to do things on the blog. So if things look different, disappear etc. it just means I'm working on it.

Thanks for understanding,

Christian Perfection

I was reading my devotional My Utmost for His Highest (Special Edition) and this was the title of the day's devotion. As usual Chambers cuts straight to the heart with this subject. The first sentence says "It is a snare to imagine that God wants to make us perfect specimens of what He can do; God's purpose is to make us one with Himself. " He goes on to say "Christian perfection is not, and never can be, human perfection. Christian perfection is the perfection of a relationship to God which shows itself amid the irrelevancies of human life." While reading this I was struck with the thought that I've been trying to be perfect. I've been feeling like a failure because I'm trying to be that Perfect Christian. The problem has been that I've been looking at what others say makes a perfect Christian. Instead of doing what I know to do I've been letting other people's opinions dictate how I go about strengthening my relationship with Jesus. I've put too much pressure on myself and that's not a new problem for me. I put too much pressure on myself and others all the time. Chamber's says "I am called to live in perfect relation to God so that my life produces a longing after God in others lives, not admiration for myself. Thoughts about myself hinder my usefulness to God. God is not after perfecting me to be a specimen in His showroom; He is getting me to the place where He can use me."

I need to remember to focus on my RELATIONSHIP with Jesus. I've been focusing on doing instead of relating. I'm going to let Him do what He likes so that He can use me.

Catch Up Day in School

Well we did school today but it was a catch up day. We did grammar, talked about rhyming patterns in poetry, and reviewed the character trait persistence. Joshua had to come up with something to do to help him be persistent in honoring Jesus. He chose to try to be obedient with a good attitude all the time as his way of being persistent in honoring Jesus. We didn't get math done but we did get our phonics done. We are using Language Tune Up Kit and he's doing very well with it right now. He does that on the computer and it's mostly independent and then I read the detailed reports about what he did while he worked.

Tomorrow Joshua has tutorial so tonight we will read the first 2 chapters of The Door in the Wall by Marguerite De Angeli. That is his current Book Club reading for tutorial.

Merry Christmas!

Welcome to my blog!

Well I have started a blog. I never thought I would do this but I decided to do it so I could keep the family in the know about the boys and our life.

I am married to the love of my life and we have 2 boys. J0shua is 9.5 and Jacob is 2.5 We are a homeschooling family and we use Heart of Dakota curriculum as our core curriculum. We use Rod & Staff for Grammar and Singapore for Math. We also use Grapevine Bible Studies.

Keep checking back because I will be posting more. I don't know how often I will post each week but I will try to post at least once a week for family.

In Christ's Love,
Paige
