Our main curriculum is always Heart of Dakota.
Joshua is 12 and in 6th grade. He will be doing Heart of Dakota Resurrection to Reformation. He's also using BJU Distance Learning for Reading, and learning Calligraphy this year. For composition he'll be using BJU Distance Learning Writing chapters of their English course, Singapore Primary Mathematics for math and Easy Grammar. For fun he's doing Mark Kistler's 3D Art lessons. We got his 3 year subscription through Homeschool Buyers Co-op. They have a great group buy on it right now.
We are also using All About Spelling. I simply think All About Spelling is the best spelling program on the market and worth every penny. All About Spelling is good for a struggling speller, natural speller, and everything in between.
Jacob is 5 and in Kindergarten. He is using BJU for Bible and Math. We are also using BJU's Beginnings course which is an integrated course that includes phonics, handwriting, and reading plus more. We are also working through All About Reading right now too. I'm in the process of trying to decide if I want to drop the Beginnings and just stick with All About Reading. I'll make a final decision in a few weeks. Jacob is doing great with the All About Reading and tolerates the Beginnings. I'm probably going to switch him to Singapore math next year so I'll be working through the Early Bird books with him this year so we can start fresh with HOD LHFHG next year.
There you have it. That's our curriculum for the 2011/2012 school year. This post is linked up with:
Thanks for stopping by my neck of the woods. I hope you enjoy what you see. May the Lord bless your upcoming school year!
